Four things that decide whether a plant survives its pot.
- Drainage hole
- Stated on every page. A ceramic pot without one is a cover pot — keep the nursery pot inside it and lift it out to water.
- Pot size
- Go one size up from the nursery pot, not three. A plant in a pot far too large sits in wet soil and rots at the root.
- Indoor or outdoor
- Outdoor pots are made to take sun and rain; indoor ceramic often is not. It is stated per product.
- Saucers
- Sold separately where the maker sells them separately. Check the page before assuming one is included.
